The Way to Control Flood

Floods are flooding in low areas on the surface caused by rain which fell constanly and appear suddenly. Flash floods happen when water saturation of soil in the areas has been extremely fast to be absorbed again. Stagnant water and gather in areas with low surface and flowing rapidly into the lower area. As a result, all sorts of objects in its path surrounded water suddenly. flash floods can result in large losses.preservation must be mainteined to prevent flooding.


examples of large flood that occured not long ago in indonesia is in a flood in bukit lawang in november 2003, in which at least 80 people were killed in the incident and many tourism facilities damaged by incident.
On january 1, 2006 flash floods occurred in jember that killed 59 people.
flood control way :
a. retaining water upstream as possible by making dams and soil and water conversation
b. rainwater soak into the ground as much as possible with or infiltration wells and providing green open areas
c. controlling the water in the middle of the store while in the area of retention
d. immediatly drain the water into the estuary or the sea to keep the water container capacity
e. securing the population, infrastructuture, and property
