Explosion Texas City Harbour

Events Explosion in Texas City Harbour to be one of the most famous disaster in the world. The inciden occured on April 16, 1947.

on April 12, 1947, the french ship Grandcamp entrance to the port of Texas city, includes cotton, thread, nuts, and equipment for oil rigs. The ship stopped in there for a load of 300 tons of  ammonium nitrate fertilizer, wich is a mixture of a higly flammable and explosive. Not far from the ship, Ship High Flayer of America  also anchored there, both for the purpose of transporting ammonium nitrate.

 for four days there, the ship Grandcamp running routine as usual, until one afternoon a fire seen splashed on the deck. It estimated that the fire originated from a cigarette butt thrown carelessly crew. Doe tu the materials contained in the ship vulnurable to water, the ship's officer had not dared to use a lot of water in an effort to turn off the fire.

The next day, a fire throught to have died was stil burning, and getting bigger. Black smoke seen rising to the top, and the autorities there immediately concerned, because it not far from where it was found that Monsanto chemical plant flammable contens. Autorities were contaced firefighters, but it also was to late.

Before firefighters arrived, a verry powerful explosion of the ship Grandcamp occured. The powerful of the explosion was even record on seismic detectors earthquake in Denver, Colorado, a distance of thausands of kilometers. The power of the explosion was also heard as far as 160 miles ( more than 250 kilometers), and the hundreds of people was died because of it.

The blast also destroyed the glass in Texas City to Galveston, a distance of 16 kilometers. A total of 32 urban complex torn apart by the blast, and two planes were flying at an altitude of 300 meters take ashaky doe to explosion that killed four people on board. 

 
But it's not the end of the disaster. Wathin a few minutes after the first exlpsion occured, the Monsanto chemical plant was there joined exploded, accompained by the three existing oil thank nearby. Combined explotion between ammonium nitrate, a chemical in the plant, and the fuel in the tank was almost equal to the force of nuclear explotion. Hundred of cars in the area and destroyed with passanger flying, metal and glass scattered, while the rubble was thrown with daedly speed.

when firefighters and military got there, that looks are hundreds of corposes and human body parts. But that was not the end of the disaster. An explosion is going to happen. Ship high flyer, also loaded with ammonium nitrate, exploded doe to the heat involved a distributed two previous explosion. The thrid blas it adds high levels of damage, so many people there that trauma and chose to leave his city.
The number of victims of that terrible tragedy as much as 552 people, with the loss of 100 million dollars. Its construction took back many years, and until now Texan never forget the tragedy.
