Progeria disease

Progeria an error diseases genetic code (a mutation), precisely protein abnormalities around the nucleus of a cell or other experts say there are errors in chromosome number 1, the one that lead to premature aging prematurely. Although it is a genetic disease caused by mutations (changes) gene. Progeria is not hereditary and is not contagious.

Progeria comes from the Greek meaning old age. So the patient is experiencing premature aging with speeds ranging from 4-7 times that of the normal aging process. Concrete example, if the child is experiencing 10 years old progeria, the appearance will look like 40-70 years old !!! People with progeria was born normal. However, at the age of 6 month to 1 year, sign began to appear. Clinical symptoms include : the original bushy hair then falls out and never grow again, the blood vessels in the head was clear, fat tissue in the bottom of the skin is reduce and even disappear so that the skin becomes wrinkled, and nails do not grow perfectly but grow curved and brittle. In addition, there is hardening in the joints, bone fractures or cracks that never healed and bone loss. Gear teeth grew late, even some that did not grow at all in addition to irregular stuctures.

However, mentally, it is not old, including the eyes. Intelligence was normal.  Of treatment, there is not cure for progeria. Only symptomatic treatment, which is

3.  Nails and teeth do not grow well.
