Atomic bomb attacks on Hirosima and Nagasaki were nuclear attacks during world war II against the empire of Japan by the United States on orders of U.S. President Harry S. Truman. After six months of bombing of 67 other Japanese cities the nuclear weapon "Little Boy" was dropped on Hirosima on August 6, 1945, followed on August 9, 1945, was dropped nuclear bomb "Fat Man" on Nagasaki. Both dates were the only nuclear attack that never happened.
The atomic bomb was kills 140,000 people in Hirosima and 80,000 people in Nagasaki in the end of 1945. since than, thousands have died from injures or illness related to radiation released by the bomb. In both cities, the majority of dead is resident.
Six day after the dropping of the atomic bomb on Nagasaki, on August 15, Japan announced that Japan surrendered unconditionally to the Alies, signed the instrument of surrender on September2, officially ending the Pacific war and World War II. This makes Japanese bombing postwar adopting Three Non-Nuclear Principles, forbidding the country has nuclear weapons.
